The STAR Method for Behavioural Questions

Most aviation interviews use behavioural questions ('Tell me about a time…'). The STAR method structures any answer:

Step	What to cover
Situation	Set the context in one or two sentences.
Task	State your responsibility in that situation.
Action	Explain what you specifically did, step by step.
Result	Give the outcome and what you learned.

Rule of thumb: 20% situation, 10% task, 50% action, 20% result. Interviewers care most about what you did.

How to Win a Group Discussion

A GD tests how you contribute to a team's thinking, not how loudly you speak:

Open with a clear point of view in the first minute — but don't monopolise.
Listen actively and build on others' points ('Building on what she said…').
Speak 3–4 times minimum; every contribution should add a new idea, evidence, or a summary.
Never interrupt, shout, or attack a teammate personally.
Bring it back when the group drifts, and summarise at the end if you can.
Keep body language open, notes brief, and English clear and calm.

Scoring reality: evaluators mark content, communication, and courtesy — in that order. A polite contributor beats a loud dominator every time.
